Hello, Krishnakant.
I think that the main difference between my Thunderbird situation and
yours is that my inbox has very few e-mails. I either delete or archive
messages when I am finished reading them. Each person has his or her own
individual preferences when it comes to dealing with e-mails, but I
personally like to keep my Inbox as clean as possible. <smile> That
could possibly be what is giving you the problem, however. I also have
Thunderbird set to remember my password so that I do not have to
re-enter it each time I start it, but I typically only check e-mails
here at home. If you are on a mobile device, such as a laptop or a
netbook, then I definitely understand why you would not want it to
remember your passwords.
I am sorry that I cannot be of any help to you on this one. All that I
am able to do is to share my experiences.
Take care.

very interesting.
I hvae all the problems I mentioned.
I am suing Orca 3.5.2 released I guess on 4th June.
This is what happens.
I start my machine and then Orca.
I press windows key + 9 because that is what launchers Thunderbird for
me.
I have to wait for a long time before Orca prompts me for a password.
I made sure that this is not a problem with Thunderbird because my
sighted wife told me that password prompt for the gnail account had
come in just about 5 or 6 seconds.
I waited for more than a couple of minutes after she informed me of
the password prompt.
Note that I have 6500 emails in my inbox and there are other folders
as well.
Secondly, after I open my inbox, suppose I get a new email, I can't
get access to it through the list of emails.
I have to press shift tab from the list of emails, then press up and
down arrow to unselect and again select the inbox folder.
Now when I press tab, I get to see the new email in the list.
Some how Orca is not becoming aware of the refreshed list of emails.
These are the only 2 problems I see apart from the commonly known bug
on key echo.
I tried with both Thunderbird 12 and 13.
Orca 3.5.2
Happy hacking.
Krishnakant.

I am actually using Thunderbird 12.0.1 under Fedora 17 and it seems
to work very well with Orca, version 3.4.2 even better than it has in
the past. I have not noticed any significant accessibility issues
other than some minor things like Echo by Word does not seem to
function. when composing a message. Other than that it is working
wonderfully here.

This is really interesting.
I think I must try latest thunderbird.
I don't know which one comes with Ubuntu 12.04, although I assume
its the latest.
Happy hacking.

I don't know anything about Trisquel, but couldn't you use apt-get to
update Firefox?
Also, I'm still running Vinux 3.2.1 with Gnome 2 and Orca 3.1.9 on my
production system. I recently upgraded from Thunderbird 3.1 to
Thunderbird 12, and I don't have any problems with Thunderbird at all.
could it be the problems that people are seeing with newer versions of
Thunderbird have to do with the interaction between the newer versions
of Thunderbird and the newer versions of Orca or one of the pieces of
the accessibility infrastructure?

Well, with reference to Trisquel, this is my ideal wishlist.
1, latest version of Firefox and Orca to make web accessibility
like in
Ubuntu Precise
2, preferabally an older version of thunderbird may be 3.1 or so
3, a well behaved version of Libre Office calc
Rest all seems to be perfectly ok.
Happy hacking.

Hi Krishnakant,
When I checked the beta it was using Gnome 3.2 and Orca 3.2.1 I
believe. However, Gnome 3.2 was setup to boot in fallback mode so it
had a Gnome 2.x look and feel. As Dave says it is quite accessible,
but I prefer Ubuntu as I have access to newer packages etc faster.
Cheers!

Which version of gnome 3 and Orca comes with it?

you boot the I18N DVD edition, orca will come up talking at system

1) What is Trisquel and what is it for? Is it a Linux/Unix

I want to migrate to a Linux system because I'm a retired
