[orca-list] no Orca with Vinux

Hi,
I installed Vinux, I think it is Ubuntu 10.04 LTS.
But I was using it on a PenDrive installation, and I had Voxin installed 
too.
After the install, it booted up, and Orca said
"press control + alt + O for help"
or something like that, and that is the last I heard from Orca.
Maybe the sounds just quit.
Is there a way I can test the sounds?
I have done the above mentioned keystroke to try and call up Orca, and I 
tried alt + F2 and typed in Orca, and still no speech.
