Re: [orca-list] [compile latest orca was orca-list] caps lock bug 11.10

I have to get it from orca ftp? it looks like they have a website. Should I get the current stable 3.0, or
the development preview?

Those fdirections are for the orca master, similar to those for the orca stable sources. The package
python-json is now included in python-jsonpickle. Before building from sources, you also need to compile
something called pygobject. Also, get this from orca ftp, as it is not up to date in Ubuntu archives.
Once your build environment is set up, build pygobject 3.0, then build orca.

I don't now why pygobject is not included in the build deps for orca, since it is needed. I found out the
'hard way', by getting errors in the configure script.

Hi there

So I think that means I have to follow these directions:

sudo apt-get build-dep gnome-orca
sudo apt-get install git-core gnome-common automake1.9 python-json

Now everything here works except the installation of python-json , for which it says that it is not
available, but is referred to by another name, that the package is missing, obsolete, or only available
from another source.

I take it that I need to compile orca like this since the latest version that canonical is registering for
me is something like 3.2.1.

Just upgrade Orca to 3.3.3 or 3.3.4; I built from the stable sources.

I have a feeling that people might know what I'm talking about. Could someone fill me in on what is
happening with the bug in ubuntu 11.10 in which capslock activates capslock even when it is supposed to
be acting as an orca modifier? Is there a hack to disable the capslock functionality while preserving it
as the orca modifyer?
