Yes, sorry to say a topic that has probably hit this list a number of
times before. I have been googling it now for the last 30 minutes, only
turning up bits and pieces. I tried downloading skype, setting up my
account with the actual skype program, then opening pidgin, making a new
account "skype" with my user name, and then giving permission to pidgin
to access my skype account. The result is that I can make skype calls
and hang up. I can also send texts. I can't seem to receive texts from
my friends though. I can hear the alert, indicating that someone sent me
a message, but when I go to the texting area, I only see the messages
that I have sent, and not the responses from my contact.
What consensus has been reached with regards to skype use in linux? I
remember the first time I tried linux, skype was not accessible, but it
looks like it might have changed since then.
Any help/hints would be appreciated.
Regards
Justin Harford
