Hi Joanie and all,
Well.... I'm an idiot! A while back I had done the upgrade from python 2.6 to 2.7, and set my active version
of python to 2.7... And totally forgot about the
speech-dispatcher module! So yeah, reemerged (and upgraded) speech-dispatcher, and that works now. But for
some reason, orca can't read anything outside of it's window. It
doesn't even say that it's inaccessible. Perhaps more python stuff that I haven't updated... Anyway, will
modify the patch and see if the emacspeak server support works.
Thanks for all your help,

Hi,
Just checked, ~/.orca didn't exist. Removed ~/.local/share/orca, unmerged orca and made sure none of it's
files were still in any of my python directories, then reapplied
the patch and remerged. Still giving the same traceback, though. :(
I have in master reversed most of that espeechfactory.py change (see the
bug). So now the only thing to patch is the change to speechfactory.py.
Whether or not that will get you past the problems I could not say, but
it's worth a try. <crosses fingers>
As for why you're even getting to that point.... Could you please try
something? In a console, type: python -c 'import speechd'
Do you get a traceback or nothing. If you get nothing you have the
python speech-dispatcher module; if you get a traceback you need to
install the python speech-dispatcher module.
Please let me know.
Take care.
