Hi Alex,
It does, but my issue is specific to the Oracle Database software. I've
gotta play around with the Java ATK Wrapper and JRE to get Orca to see
Oracle's utils for R1 and R2 during and after the install. So the
message isn't outright blasting Java on Linux. Sorry if it seemed to be.

I thought Orca worked well with Java. Has something changed?

Hi joanie,
Thanks for your response and for not completely abandoning the XDesktop
branch of Orca. For those of us who want to switch to XFCE, is the
information that I've read on the XFCE wiki up to date? Will XFCE 4.10
Releng officially be in Xubuntu 12.04 LTS? If not, I guess we could
build it from packages or from source, but that won't be fun or easy at all.
I'll do some research online and see if the Oracle database software I
run will run or install on a gtk 3 system such as Gnome 3 etc. I wish
Oracle wouldn't use Java for their tools since Orca can't easily see
them, but that's not your issue. That will directly affect me when I
work as a database admin if I'm unable to get sighted help when doing a
new database install, initial configuration, or upgrade.

Will Orca X-Desktop ever be murged into the master branch?
Not exactly. The goal is for the master branch to become the version
which works in GNOME 3, Unity, KDE, XFCE, and anyone else who would like
to join in. Once we have an accessible XFCE, that will be the
recommended alternative to GNOME 2 for Orca users.
For those who still rely on Gnome 2, is accessibility as good as it
will ever get?
Since GNOME 2 is no longer being developed, I suppose so, yes. Mind you
for critical bug fixes that are within Orca and which apply to GNOME 2,
I am still committing to the orca-xdesktop branch. But anything that is
not a critical bug fix, is going into master only.
Take care.
