think there's also a GNOME (gtk) based application to do all that.
  On the command line, you have jack_control , which is the most
basic. It has no interaction at all. but there is also jackctl (or
jackctl.py). I'm not sure, if it's in one of the packages, but I
might find the link or you might google it. It's only one python
It's been renamed to CLIJACK and the latest version I know of can be
