Hi john:
Try installing libgail-common by typing apt-get install libgail-common.
For some reason neither orca, gtk, or at-spi depend on this package in
debian testing. More information about this package can be found at
http://packages.debian.org/wheezy/libgail-common. Not sure about your
keybindings issue but this should make orca read pidgin. Hope this
helps.

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone can reproduce this, before I try to get a
log/open a ticket for the issue.
using:
debian testing amd64, gnome-3.4.2, empathy 3.4.2.3
with either orca 3.4.2, or orca 3.5.90pre, when any of empathy's windows
are focused, any orca
keybindings are passed through to the application rather than performing
the given orca
function.
with pidgin (2.10.6), orca does not read any of the pidgin windows, it
doesn't say pidgin
inaccessible,
but just say "pidgin win" as if it got interupted by something.
Does empathy or preferably pidgin work well for anyone?
Thanks.
