There was a PPA with accessibility fixes in it that was supposed to
bring the accessibility of Unity 3D up to near equality with the
accessibility of Unity 2D in Ubuntu 11.01, so I don't think it's true
that Unity 3D doesn't work at all, although it is true that Unity 2D is
more accessible in Ubuntu 11.10 and Ubuntu 12.04, so I'd definitely
recommend it for now over Unity 3D.
