Hi Christian,

Voxin officially supports Arch Linux as of V0.35. Though the latest
version is 0.36. If you can, e-mail
Gilles Casse with your information if you need the full package. Since
I don't think that you can install arch Linux using 0.29 on its own,
because of the language support.

Hi,
Well, I installed abs and may I just, have to doublecheck the flag, but
add something like --withibmtts to the configure option in the PKGBUILD
script?
The production version will not run as its own user, I think?
I tried updating the PKGBUILD script but how to get it recompile it
again since if I use pacman -R speech-dispatcher and then pacman -S
speech-dispatcher it uses the cached version I think.
Well, what I did was that I unpacked the voxin-0.2.9 package into an
empty directory and looked in the packages folder and went into the all
packages folder. There I found the libstdc++2.10 debian package.
I then extracted the content of that package, using deb2targz.
I then copied all files in that /usr/lib folder into my /usr/lib folder.
Then I used the voxin-installer shell script to install Voxin.
I also downloaded the speakup connector from the Arch AUR and installed
that as well.
That's how I did it in short.
Best regards,
Christian

I seriously doubt speech-dispatcher for the production Arch repo was
linked with those libraries. The voxin package is not a standard part
of Arch Linux so I'm quite sure they aren't included with speechd. I
think your best bet would be to either use speech dispatcher from
speech-dispatcher-git from AUR and recompile the thing; you would need
to update the PKGBUILD to include the ./configure option to include
whatever libraries Voxin uses. You could also do the same thing with
the normal Arch package but you would need to install the abs package
and then look in there for the PKGBUILD for speech-dispatcher that
goes in the extra repository.

Actually, that's interesting you got Voxin to work that easily. I
thought you had to have old out dated libraries lying around in order
for it to work. Could you share with us what steps you took to get
Voxin working up to this point?

Hi all,
I have installed Voxin and it's working fine with the speakup connector
and
I also installed speech-dispatcher 0.7.1 with pacman but I am not able
to
get Voxin to work with spd.
I have enabled it in speechd.conf but it doesn't work. Is that module
not
compiled when installing SPD from Arch repository?
Many thanks for any info,
Christian
