Re: [orca-list] Is anyone still using gnome-speech with Orca master?

Hi,

I tried two releases: this in squeeze which works but we need run spd as
user as the service doesn't work (0.7-6.1). Then I tried 0.7.1-6 and now
it works, but I cannot control the punctuation (even if I choose None it
reads everything). So I don't know if it's due to Debian or another
problem, as I tried with various contexts for the same result.

spd works really well with ibmtts for me.

Hi,

I use gnome-speech on 32bits systems. On 64 bits I cannot but I plan
investigating about this. speech-dispatcher has so much problems at this
time I think, in particular with IBMTTS sytgetisers. There's a bug on
Debian 6.0.1 in the service itself, the last Debian package has a bug
with last orca release about punctuations, ... well really, at this
time, I prefer gnome-speech. And I hope making it work on 64bits soon.

I too, am another user of speech dispatcher exclusively. The only
concern I might have with getting rid of gnome-speech is often will
kick in while setting up Orca for the first time on a system before
choosing speech dispatcher; perhaps this can be corrected when dumping
gnome-speech permanently.

Hey all.

Quick survey: Are you still using gnome-speech with Orca master?

For years I don't use gnome-speech. I'm almost sure I don't recall
anyone from portuguese language based communities that uses gnome
speech.

I would really (really, really) like to completely remove Orca's support
for the long-ago deprecated gnome-speech. But I also don't want to leave
anyone in a bad state and unable to use the latest Orca.

Thanks in advance! Take care.
