Hey all.
I've gone ahead and branched for GNOME 3.0. I was already planning on
branching earlyish this time because we have more big changes (including
a plugin implementation currently under development) coming soon. It's
all quite exciting really.
What made me branch *today* was the need to address the fact that we
were using gconf (as opposed to gsettings) to do an initial check if
accessibility was enabled.
<digression>
I'm really wondering why checking either is necessary, and Ale and I are
in the process of seeking a more desktop-agnostic approach to this sort
of thing. After all, with Qt and XFCE accessibility coming down the
pike, dependence upon gfoo really is not ideal.
</digression>
Because Ale and I need more time to look into this situation, and
because we were given a patch which the Release Team blessed, we needed
to commit what we were given to meet the RT's deadline. However, because
I realize that many of you are not in a GNOME 2.91.x/3.0 environment but
still wish to use master, I only included the provided patch in the 3.0
branch. All other bug fixes announced for today's release are in both
master and the branch. And I *think* I got the remainder of the speech
settings for apps issues. <fingers crossed>
If you have any questions, you know where to find me. <smile>
Thanks guys! Take care.
