Hi,
if you've got Ubuntu 11, from the login screen/page there are usually
some options after the actual login part (asking about keyboard layout
and other options). One of them is called "Sessions" and is a
select or combo-box. The option for Gnome should be called "Ubuntu
classic". So, if you're logged in you'll have to log out, and you would
make this selection before logging in again.

However I've read that the next LTS version of Ubuntu won't offer
Classic anymore, so maybe then we'll have to go download it somewhere.
Or... lose Ubuntu and switch to some other distro who uses Gnome? I
rather like Debian though.

Also, I've read that some people notice compiz errors when switching
to Ubuntu Classic (Gnome). I don't know if that will affect you since
I've got the LTS version 10.
