Re: [orca-list] pigin

Wow, good find! I'm a big Pidgin user, but I never noticed this before.
I'm guessing I took a look when I didn't know Pidgin or Orca well enough
and then never went back after getting more experience.

Sorry to be so annoying....

No need to apologize. It's obvious you're learning from your questions
on the list and doing some digging on your own before asking questions.

I looked at the key bindings table for pigin, and it says that the orca
key plus f1 either and or f9 speaks the last conversation. This seems
vague to me, I've hit those 2 keys and all the function keys in between
but it still doesn't speak the last message from the conversation. What
am i doing wrong here.

This works for me. If I press caps-lock+F1 (Note that I use the laptop
keyboard layout, so caps-lock is my Orca key." then I hear the last
message. I have to be in Pidgin for this to work. this is the last
message across all of the chats I'm in at the moment, i.e. the last
think Pidgin read automatically. caps-lock+F2 would read the 2nd to last
message and so on.

Also it looks like it's got other options "speak the name of the chat
room the message comes from" and so on. These all have checkboxes by
them in this table but no key. I want to enable these functions, how?
These all look like reasonable functions, and i'd like to use them.:P

I agree. The tick box you hear is whether the modifier key is being used
or not. You're in a table, so I think what you want to do is arrow over
to the key binding column and choose a key to bind this function to. I'm
not sure how to do that, but I'm going to look into it right now and
report back.

It seems like the big problem will be figuring out what key bindings
would make sense and aren't already taken. Maybe someone else will weigh
in with some helpful suggestions.
