[orca-list] switching speech language frequently -2-

Hi All,

Thanks for all the reactions sofar. Nice to see I am not the only one
that is struggling with it.

I am thinking of a way of switching the speech language in the same way
as you can switch keyboard layouts:
First you mark which languages you want to use from the long list. After
you have done that you can switch to the next language that you have
marked with a shortcut key.
This way you can cycle through your marked languages list by pressing
the shortcut key a few times (how many keystrokes would depend on the
number of languages you marked).

The shortcut key would be configurable in the usual way:
'Orca Preferences' choose Tab 'Key Bindings' choose the function you
want to change and then click in the column 'key binding' now you can
assign a new key combination for that function. (check first if the
desired combination isn't already doing something else)

An automatic system for detecting document language and choosing the
speech language would be quite complex the implement.
It would depend on the correct labeling of the text by the author,
And you loose control over the system, i.e. I am using the Afrikaans
voice to read Dutch because it is better than the dutch one (Afrikaans
is very close to dutch, it branched of only a few centuries ago)

Robert
