Re: [orca-list] Orca does not see any app

Hello Jason, thanks for your reply and for your assistance.

Judging by the latter, your gnome installation is broken, but I don't know
enough about the inner workings of Gnome to determine the likely cause. Be
sure that all packages are installed properly,

How to ensure this ?
So far I have purged gnome, gnome-sesion and reinstalled them in a way
that all the dependencies are satisfied.
What else can be done to ensure that all packages are installed
properly ?

and that D-Bus is started -
there seem to be problems receiving replies from D-Bus services that should be
running.

ps shows several occurrences of dbus-launch and one occurrence of
dbus-daemon.

My guess is that if you asked someone to look at the display or took an image
of it and had someone check it, you'd find that the desktop isn't starting up
properly.

Well: I could show the display to a sighted person. Not that familiar
with computers and with gnome, so I don't know whether the result is
normal or usual, but it didn't seem incoherent or buggy. The menu is
there, we could run Firefox...

I'm on the latest Debian Sid and, as mentioned before, mine is fine, so it's
something specific to your system.

I hope the problem can be located soon...

Sébastien.
