Hi,
The text attributes command is working okay for me. I'm using Orca from
git master yesterday.
I thought it was broken at first but turned out that somehow all the
various attributes I had checked to speak in the preferences trree view
had become unchecked and I had to go back in and check them.

The problem seems to be that Orca isn't receiving the "orca key" modifier
(i.e., insert or caps-lock, depending on the selected layout).
Interesting theory. However, were that the case, I don't think Steve's
debug output would list the attributes.
When I successfully invoke the attributes command, I get
1. The key event for the Orca modifier key.
2. The event for "f":
KEYEVENT: type=0
hw_code=90
modifiers=16400
event_string=(KP_Insert)
is_text=True
timestamp=36773856
time=1284975907.955017
orca.keyEcho: string to echo: KP_Insert
orca.isModifierKey: returning: True
orca.isModifierKey: returning: True
KEYEVENT: type=0
hw_code=41
modifiers=16400
event_string=(f)
is_text=True
timestamp=36774208
time=1284975908.306885
orca.keyEcho: string to echo: f
orca.isModifierKey: returning: False
----------> QUEUEING KEYPRESS 'f' (41)
DEQUEUED KEYPRESS 'f' (41) <----------
