Re: [orca-list] Possible bug with Orca and Pidgin

Hey all.

Sorry to have gone on a several-day-long hiatus. I caught some sort of
death flu and just had to sleep it off. Now that I'm back....

With respect to this bug:

When running pidgin from console I received the following after a paste:
ERROR:atktext.c:1167:atk_text_attribute_get_value: assertion failed:
(index >= 0 && index < G_N_ELEMENTS (underline_offsets))

It's an Atk bug. I have filed it and attached a patch for it here:
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=630097

I will now beg for the fix to be committed and for the maintainers to
request code freeze break, a period we are now in. I suspect that will
all take place. <fingers crossed>

In the meantime, your options are:

1. Grab the latest Atk from master, apply the patch, build, and install.

2. Disable braille text attributes in Orca for impacted applications
(e.g. Pidgin and OCRFeeder).

3. Disable the indication of misspelled words in the impacted
applications.

Doing any one of the three above choices should solve the problem for
you until it is properly resolved.

Take care.
