[orca-list] update manager in ubuntu

is there an issue with update manager in ubuntu maverick?
i ask because i did milton's suggestion of installing it from the 
live cd without enabling updates during installation and keeping 
the install extra packages unchecked as well and when update 
manager tried to run, i got an error message halfway through 
about not being able to remove certain packages etc when maverick 
tried the usual update after installation.
i re installed again from the cd to try and fix it and still got 
the same problem so i have re installed again and not yet 
updated.
i am wondering if i should wait a while and try again and see if 
the same problem occurs with the possibility that by the time i 
do the update there may be a fix when i come to do the update.
i have not seen this eror message before.
