Re: [orca-list] Volunteer needed: Ubuntu Software Center

Hi Jacob.

Is this even possible right now?

Yes. As a general rule, while I allow y'all to ask the impossible of me
and try really, really hard to pull off what you seek, I do my best to
not ask the impossible of you. <huge, silly grin>

In all seriousness, if the task I were asking here were completely
undoable, I wouldn't have bothered the list with it. I would've instead
quietly blocked the bug as not being doable and moved on to other
things.

How far along is the accessibility support in Webkit-gtk?

Quite a ways, actually. We still have a ways to go. But getting the text
out of a widget should be simple. And that would solve the two issues
which were identified as needing to be addressed by the filer of the
bugs. (I marked one as a dup of the one that is still open.)

Come to mention it, webkit is becoming increasingly important.

Indeed it is. And I think that tackling the problem of Ubuntu Software
Center's script gives us further opportunity to identify areas where my
testing of WebKitGtk might have failed to uncover a problem. As such,
the taking on of this task would not only be of value for Ubuntu users,
but of all future consumers of WebKitGtk content. (Unfortunately, this
fact still doesn't magically give me additional time. <grin>)

 Is there
a page set up to follow the progress of Webkit's accessibility for GNOME?

The brief status can be found on under the WebKitGtk (support Atk)
section on our GNOME 3 Accessibility status/progress page:
http://live.gnome.org/Accessibility/GNOME3

There you will also find a link to the meta bug in WebKitGtk's bugzilla.
Examining all the bugs, open and closed, will tell you where we were and
where we are now.

HTH.
