Hi
VMware is actually very nice. It's fully GTK+ and VMware actually have
listened and labeled all of their controls and the like. I'm test
driving VMware Workstation 7 right now and it's very nice indeed. The
latest version even works with Pulseaudio finally, that was the one and
only thing that kept me using Virtualbox was its Pulseaudio support.
Finally, no more VBoxManage command-line which they seemed to have made
even more complicated in the latest version for no reason at all. I
don't have any issues with VMware's web page, but I do run Firefox with
noscript so perhaps that has something to do with it. I don't recall
ever having problems with their webpage though.

I'm looking for virtualization capable of running XP that is accessible

VirtualBox is a QT app and, as such, doesn't work out-of-the-box. Sure,
there's a command line interface, but it seems to have been designed by
masochists, and I don't think it necessarily follows that just because I
want accessibility means I want to endure a world of hurt in the
process. Also, IIRC, when I last used the command line to boot the VM it
would pop up an inaccessible license agreement screen.
There is VboxGTK, which works tolerably well, but hasn't seen updates in
quite some time and only works with the open source VB. Since I need USB
support, this is out.
Is VMWare any better? Normally I'd just visit the site and not bother
asking, but vmware.com's main page seems to reliably lock my desktop for
upwards of half a minute in pulsating waves. Sorry, that does sound all
new-agy, but that's really the best description. I can't do anything for
half a minute, get a few seconds of activity, then lose functionality
again. I clicked on a "desktop solutions" link or somesuch, but that
seems more targeted at "enterprise" customers rather than someone
wanting to run XP for gaming and occasional gadget interfacing. I'll
keep trying to poke it, but losing my desktop for half a minute makes me
less inclined to explore their offerings and, possibly, to give them
some of my money.
Are there any other solutions that work well? KVM supposedly doesn't for
XP, but it may be more accessible at this point, at least until QT apps
are usable. Or is there some more simplistic method of setting up VBox
via the command line that doesn't involve looking at pages of confusing
command line options and trying to figure out which I need and in which
order?
Thanks.
