[orca-list] installer in hardy

i have screwed up both my laptop and desktop pcs and i am trying 
to install hardy as i have had problems with both karmic and the 
lucid beta versions.
i boot the hardy cd, press enter for the default language, press 
enter followed by down arrow, f5 , 3 and enter twice and i get no 
speech when ubuntu starts.
i then type f2 orca and hit enter and i get the orca setup in 
another language.
what am i doing wrong and if i am having problems accessing 
speech for the installer duing the down arrow step, how do i 
launch the installer if i just boot the cd, press enter to select 
my language, press f5 and enter twice?
i tried the install file icon only that doesn't work or it 
doesn't with speech.
