Subject: [orca-list] speech on laptop

i can't seem to be able to adjust the speech volume for orca on
my toshiba laptop.
the volume in orca preferences is set to 10,0 and turning the
volume knob on my laptop to the right doesn't appear to make any
difference.
the volume is fine on my desktop.
how can i resolve this issue in ubuntu karmic?
