Have you looked at the Wiki links on the footer of every message?
There are lists of keyboard shortcuts and such that clearly show how
to navigate websites without the need for virtual buffers.

Yes and I should add that these various hot keys navigate you around
the page without actually using a virtual buffer. This is because we
can move the cursor through the page normally so extra structural
navigation keys were added to get to the specified parts of a
document. You just have to pay attention to know if you are inside a
text box control so you don't accidentally type any of these
structural nav. keys in the control; they don't work in there for
obvious reasons. If unsure, I just hit the numpaad-enter key and Orca
will tell if you are in a text box, combo box, or link or whatever.

Personally, I love not having a virtual buffer. The page pretty much
appears to us as it does to any other reader and you can get through
those navigation banners much more quickly since the links are on a
single line instead of linearizing them by putting each single link on
a separate line.
