Re: [orca-list] arch linux, gnome, and orca

Yeah, I don't have dbus explicitly mentioned in my DAEMONS array but
like you say, it is probably running because I do start hal in my
startup.

On Arch dbus can be started in the daemons array in the /etc/rc.conf
file. Also I thought on Arch the hal startup script starts dbus as
well as hal.

Igor: Is the dbus-daemon you're starting a gnome specific thing as I
notice you have it in /opt/gnome?

Hi. Did you make sure that dbus-daemon was running? If you are running
Gnome-2.28.0 or greater, you need to run dbus-daemon --system before Startx. Or
in the event that you are using Gdm, make sure Dbus-daemon is starting before X.
I eventually got tired of typing it all out, so I created a little script to
start Dbus:
#!/bin/bash
if [[ -f "/opt/gnome/var/run/dbus/pid" ]]; then
rm /opt/gnome/var/run/dbus/pid
fi
/opt/gnome/bin/dbus-daemon --system
Hope this helps.
