Re: [orca-list] how well do java swing apps work with orca 2.30

Hi,

I had some success with the Java ATK Wrapper on Ubuntu earlier in the year.

Installing it is straightforward enough.

Just download the tarball from the gnome ftp site, extract the archive, change to the directory and run the commands

./configure --prefix=/usr --JAVA_HOME=/usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun
make
sudo make install

Assuming that's where your installation of the JRE is. The above is where Ubuntu puts it.

Then you should be good to go.

Note you should use the 2.28 version if you're using gnome 2.28.

I think if you've got Orca's build dependencies you should have all you need to build the JAW.

It works pretty well.

Hello all,
I am keen on trying out java apps which are built using swing library for the GUI.
I would like to know if it is worth giving a try?
how do we install java -atk?
Is it any thing better than access briedge?

Happy hacking.
