To avoid these conflicts, you could run Emacs with Emacspeak inside Gnome. You
might have to write a little script to tell Orca to turn off when focus is in
an Emacs window, however.
As an aside, I was browsing Emacs documentation and noticed a manual entry
about DBUS support under Emacs. Given that the entire desktop accessibility
infrastructure is moving to DBUS, this could raise interesting opportunities.
