Hi,

I would note that while many people hereuse ubuntu, and apear to do so with the stock options, it is not 
necessary to have the weather aplet install, personally I prefer to have the minimal amount of gnome stuff 
possible, and will probably migrate away completely soon.

SO I agree that while time date, are universally avialable, and useful the others are not, and while  I am 
not opposed to providing them, I don't think  they should be setup by default.

What I would suggest is to provide a contrib style directory of scripts that while useful, are not in the 
main part of the distribution.
