Hey all.
I just committed a new script for the jabber client Gajim. In my testing
(Gajim from Lucid's repository), things are working quite nicely.
Yay! :-)
Having said that.... As with Empathy, there are two issues I would like
to try to improve:
1. We cannot distinguish different status changes (typing, paying
attention, gone away). As a result implementing Orca's typing
notification feature can't be done until we get the client to expose
these things better. In the spirit of Orca's new, "generic" chat module,
I want to give some thought to exactly how we want clients to expose
this information to us, because if they all do it the same way, it will
be awesome.
2. The buddy list information could be improved upon. We're currently
not reporting the expanded/collapsed state or the number of items. I
think this is a custom widget issue, but hopefully one I can address on
our side rather than a bug I need to file. I'll tackle this next.
Thanks for your ongoing testing of the new chat functionality!
