Any idea on when you might promote these changes to a stable version?
Perhaps we can get that newer version into our Arch Linux package for
Arch distribution.

This is now fixed in the eSpeak development version (currently 1.41.41)

eSpeak was not recognizing these key-names in
<say-as interpret-as="tts:key"> </say-as>
