Re: [orca-list] Orca slows down the Navigation Bundle extension of Firefox

Hi
It depends greatly on the machine used. On my dual-core, 2.4ghz Macbook
with 4gb of ram it does not happen, and I've used ORca on a single-core
pentium 2.4ghz with 1gb of ram and not had the problem. However, on my
netbook running at 1.66ghz with 2gb of ram, single-core, Orca will often
cause such a typing lag in Firefox that filling out forms can become a
chore. If I turn on powersave mode, which lowers the speed down to 1.0
ghz and drops the fsb speed, the problem is even worse.
This happens both with Orca 2.26.1 and Firefox 3.0.9 and with the latest
git pull and the Firefox 3.6 nightly builds, though it seems to be
somewhat less of a lag in the nightly builds. It's still definitely
noticeable though, and depending on the type and configuration of your
machine you may not encounter it.

Hi
From my experience, Orca makes everything in Firefox sluggish. Try
typing into an edit field on a slower machine, for example, and see how
far it lags behind your actual typing...
I find that this seldum happens, although off late that has reduced to a
very great extent.
But I certainly face this problem when I use evolution and had reported
this earlier.

Strangely enough though, I compiled both orca and evolution from source
on ubuntu jonty and even this problem has got reduced.

happy hacking.
