Re: [orca-list] Orca and Audacity

Hi Christian
Orca's issues with Audacity actually stem from the Wxwidgets toolkit audacity uses. Wx is a cross-platform GUI toolkit that, on UNIX-like systems, bridges to GTK. Basically, it allows apps to look and feel native on all platforms WX supports. However, certain controls in WX do not report their accessibility properly, one particular control of note is the Panel, as it does not allow access to the controls contained with in the panel control as it should. Audacity uses a lot of panel controls, so it makes getting some information rather difficult. You can get buy using flat review, but it takes practice.

Hi all,
Are there any planns to improve Orca's accessibility of Audacity?
I have currently been able to record but not find out what track has focus and so on.
Many thanks,
Christian

The major difference between a thing that might go wrong and a thing that cannot possibly go wrong is that when a thing that cannot possibly go wrong goes wrong it usually turns out to be impossible to get at or repair.
