When I do database work, I use console apps; I use postgresql; the
client is quite accessible from a text console and if you want to use
a pick and choose interface, phpPgSQL is a fine tool that is web
based.  I see that best working with Firefox.  The last time I tried
that web interface with Elinks, the browser crashed.  I haven't tried
the database facility of Open Office yet.  That might be a solution
too.
