Re: [orca-list] Orca with external speech synth

Hello,
I once tried to get my apollo synth working with orca but didn't have much success.

I set up the emacspeak speech server and had it all working fine with emacspeak. Then when I used orca to try and set it to use the apollo synth I hit problems. Emacspeak speech server appeared as an option but in the list of synths I couldn't find my apollo.

I have looked at the source code for orca in the speech server stuff (admittedly not in huge detail) and from what I gathered it seemed like for emacspeak servers it needed to have some code written for each synth it would support and the apollo wasn't one that orca had code written for. Have I understood this right? Will orca need some code writing to support the apollo through emacspeak speech server (although emacspeak speech server does support apollo for emacspeak)?

I've plugged it in but now what do I do? (sorry, I'm still getting my

You'll have to use an emacspeak speech server, first get that working,
see the emacspeak manual. Then set up orca to use emacspeak.

Daniel.
