I believe orca should work on BSD. The question might be whether the
type of BSD includes a recent enough version of gnome. FreeBSD I believe
has a recent enough version and Orca probably will be included (I don't
know about what speech synths come with FreeBSD), but OpenBSD has an
older version of gnome (at least when I had a look at BSD) and would
need some work to get orca working.
