Hi
I'm attempting to use Orca with Ubuntu 8.4 with no success so far. I
can access the computer via network and via console-moe screen reader.
Speech-dispatcher is configured and working with spd-say. Orca version
is
gnome-orca 2.22.1-0ubuntu1
As there is no sighted assistance available in near future i would like
to set up Orca myself but found it quite hard so far. Any tips for
following questions would be helpful:
- Can i run some setup script in text console.
orca --text-setup will only complain
'GtkWarning: could not open display' and spit a tracebak message.
- How can i make sure i have logged in to gdm and started orca
succesfully. After several attempts do do it 'in the dark' according the
FAQ does not work, at least i cound not find any orca-related at the list
of running processes.
- Is there some switch or configuration file i can edit to force orca to
use speech dispatcher as a synth? Is there for example available a
skeleton configuration file for orca just to use sd as synthesizer?
