Hi list,
Apologies for this not being strictly Orca
related.
My problem is that I need a machine running Windows
XP for running my copy of Visual Studio with JAWS. The machine I have came
with Vista which doesn't work at all well with either my copy of Visual Studio
or JAWS and I can't simply wipe it and install XP natively because drivers don't
exist for it.
My questions are; does anyone know if I installed
Ubuntu as the native O/S then installed Virtualbox, would XP running virtualised
be sufficiently powerful and responsive enough to handle Visual Studio and JAWS
so I could use it to develop software? I'm concerned that the virtualised
environment only has 8Mb of video RAM (at least by default). The real
machine has a Pentium-D CPU with 2Gb of RAM and 128Mb of gfx RAM.
Also, does anyone know how I could install XP onto
the VM without sighted asistance? I know it involves creating an answer
file with the correct information for your machine but don't know what this
information would be for installing onto a Virtualbox VM.
Any thoughts much appreciated. Perhaps
off-list since it's not strictly an Orca problem.
