Hi Keith:
Orca relies upon the toolkit/application to provide keyboard traversal
techniques for doing this. GNOME has a very good keyboard navigation
model built in:

In general, when you hold the Shift key down while navigating, you
select text. You then typically press Ctrl+c to copy what you've
selected and Ctrl+v to paste it.
