Hello, yes, this is actually a feature, not a bug :-). The Speech
Dispatcher backend currently leaves all verbalization up to the
synthesizer. This is technically the correct approach. Verbalization
is a language dependent process which requires the knowledge of the
lexical structure of the text etc. Just think about the names and it is
quite clear, that it belongs to a TTS, not to a "screen reader".
Well, said that, I understand that the Orca approach (screen reader
controlled verbalization) has some advantages, such as consistency
across speech engines. My plan is to make both approaches possible with
the Speech Dispatcher backend and let the user decide what is better in
