Re: [orca-list] Text attributes

Hi Jann:

We've not really done a lot of work with Java application support yet --
there are still some fundamental issues we're resolving with that before
completely jumping into scripting for Swing. As such, your mileage will vary with Java apps.

It should work with gedit, though. Can you try updating to a newer version of Orca? It would be ideal if you could work with the latest stuff if possible.

Hi Will,

I've tried this stuff for example with gedit and eclipse. But can't get it working...

But I am not to sure, if I'm setting up something wrong in general: because neither any text attributes nor text selection is shown on my braille display (alva abt3 series).

Specially in eclipse I really need such text attributes for faster navigation etc..

I've set the option on the braille tab of the config UI to 'dot 7 and 8' and also tried to select only 'dot 7' or 'dot 8' to indicate ...

Version INfos: I am using Ubuntu 7.10 with Orca 2.20.3 from the gnome ftp site

Hi Jann:

Text selection indication in braille was added via bug
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=382601 which went into Orca
v2.19.5 (a development release before Orca 2.20).

The selection indicator stuff is on the "Braille" tab of the
configuration UI, and I just checked this with OOo, Gedit, and FF3 with
Orca from svn trunk. Seems to work fine for me.

If it's not working for you, please let us know which application you
are using, which operating system (and version) you are on, and which
version of Orca you are using.

Hello,

I am sorry: I just didn't see the 'Configuration GUI' page in the orca
wiky. Now I know what each part of the text attributes page is for...

But I still wonder how to enable Orca to indicate selected text with
e.g. dots 7 and 8 on the braille display. Do you know the right option
for that? Or is this feature not implemented in Orca 2.20.3?

Hi all,

I want orca to show some text attributes on the braille display. I've
allready tried to set this up via the 'text attributes' tab of the orca
preferences dialog. But it seems like it has no effect.

I just want to indicate these attributes by underlineing the text with
dots 7 and 8 and for that checked this option of the radio buttons
group.

Also I think perhaps I missunderstood the meaning of the columns in the
options table of this page: the first and second are clear. But what is
this third one for? Is it to select, wether this option should be turned
on or off? I tried to enable such a function by entering 'true' in this
column (where before it was 'false').

Sysinfo: I am using Ubuntu 7.10 and Orca 2.20.3
