Re: [orca-list] Cepstral Swift lockup

Hi,

It might be worth a try to remove gnome-speech-swift and then build gnome-speech from  source.  That package is there to allow you to avoid building gnome-speech from source and to automatically update the code.  However, I have removed a number of packages and built the programs from source code so that I could use development versions.  If you are comfortable building programs from source, it might get Cepstral working for you.  Just a suggestion if you want to use Cepstral.

Dave,

Thanks for the feedback.  Unfortunately, or perhaps fortunately, gnome-speech-swift controls the Swift voices in Hardy.

Thanks,

Hi,

I'm using Cepstral Callie on a Ubuntu Gutsy machine, and the voice is very responsive.  I don't know if this makes a difference, but I followed the instructions on the Orca wiki that included building gnome-speech from source.  At that time, I didn't know about the gnome-speech-swift package.

Subject: [orca-list] Cepstral Swift lockup

Good evening,

I purchased and installed Cepstral Swift David today.  After installing it and switching Orca to use the voice I notice that Orca stops speaking a lot and it takes a long time for it to start again.  This does not happen with the default Orca voice.

Using Ubuntu 8.04.  Also, I did a
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade

And there was no change.  Has anyone tried Swift voices and have they had this problem?

Thanks,
Everett
