Hello,
I had the same situation last week and received the response below.

Hi,
tried to follow teh instructions on the Orca wiki in order to build the
latest version from SVN.
Two problems:
1. I cannot build the dependencies of atk:
sudo apt-get build-dep atk
returns the message, that this package doesn't exist.
try:
sudo apt-get build-dep libatk1.0-0
I had a siimilar error with gail, but it built without the build-dep
step.
2. I need clarification of the following line:
./autogen.sh --prefix=`pkg-config --variable=prefix ORBit-2.0`
What does that ` mean? Trying to type this command results in the
message, that "prefix" needs an absolute path.
Are these commands a kind of wildcard, and if so, What's the exact command?
Hermann
