Subject: [orca-list] completely accessible and portable solution thanks toOrca!

Good morning,

I've been working on two things in work over the last few hours.

Both are thanks to documentation on www.pendrivelinux.com.

First is I have Ubuntu working side by side on a windows machine here at
work so it's very easy to get Ubuntu and more importantly speech within
minutes for quick demonstrations. It's perfect for situations where you
need to demonstrate what we're doing here quickly but only have a windows
machine to work from. Unfortunately, that's a common problem!

Second but more significant in my opinion is Ubuntu booting from a 2GB pen
drive. I have all updates applied for 7.10, Orca from the 2-20 branch and
the latest nightly build of firefox. Because it's a persistent
installation as aposed to a live CD solution, I can bring the pen drive
anywhere with a working and up to date system and work from anywhere.
That was important yesterday as I needed to convince someone that Linux
will run faster and more officiently than the Vista installation they had
on their PC. Speech didn't really factor in to it for them but it was an
obvious importants to me as without it I wouldn't have given a very
effective sales pitch!
I think the best thing about the pen drive installation though is that it
is the perfect solution for someone who wants to try linux but feers
repartitioning and wants a ready to go solution right from boot up.
