I have Ubuntu 8:10 installed. I wanted to get
Speakup to work, but I don't have a hardware synth. I could try using it with
Speech-Dispatcher, but I have a dual processor and Speech-Dispatcher crashes all
the time (when exactly are they planning to fix this?). I just don't like using
braille very much, but I do have a braille display so I thought I might try
using brltty.
Is brltty supposed to be compiled into the kernel
like speakup, or does it work differently? Could I use it outside of GNOME just
like speakup?
Thanks!
