this is very interesting thing, thank you. Have you heard of

This is project is using Festival to actually play Lilipond music
including the singing voices. It is important so that blind people
who are typesetting music have control over the synchronization
of the lyrics with the score, but I'm not that familiar with it, so I won't
go into more details here.
