Re: [orca-list] Orca and ubuntu 7.10

Hello,

There are no show stopping problems with Orca and Ubuntu 7.10.

I have installed it very successfully on a few different computers
without problems. Once or twice orca didn't come up talking on the
live CD but that's easily fixed by just launching it.

I complained a while ago about the lack of support for acroread in
Ubuntu 7.10 but this is actually available from the medibuntu
repository. I've added instructions in the acroread page on
http://live.gnome.org/Orca

There are a few pages that need to be updated to reflect a few minor
changes in Ubuntu 7.10 on the wikki but aside from that, there's no
reason why it cant be used well.

I'm wondering though, has anyone noticed that if you have evolution
running and checking mail if you launch pidgin or another application,
evolution just shuts down without any errors. Maybe it's just because
I'm using a groupwise account but it's kind of strange. I need to try
to replicate the issue on another machine before I start submitting a
bug.

If you want a problematic distribution, try OpenSuSE for size.
Bug 332498 has made the entire desktop totally unusable. I'm left in
the position of trying to provide second level support to internal
support engineers without having the benefit of using the product I'm
supporting! It's crazy and not something I want to have to explain to
my employer just because Novell have messed up yet again.
