Re: [orca-list] probably compatibility problem of Linux kernel

I don't think it's surprising that some machines will fail booting a
live cd--whichever distribution. There are far too many hardware
possibilities for a single cd rom to support. In other words, the art of
creating a live cd is, in great part, the art of deciding what to leave
out.

If I'm understanding your post, you're using an IBM laptop--I'd guess
some Thinkpad version. I've run Linux on Thinkpads for over 10 years
without serious issues, as have others.

If I further understand your post that the crash happens early in the
boot process, the problem is almost certainly driver related. You can
use Speakup or Brltty live media to start this machine--or to install
the distribution so that you can simply run from your hard drive. But,
do not expect perfection from live media--at least not until we can get
live media on multi-gigabyte flash of some kind.

Dear developers,

I think, that some kernel module of Linux distribution, awailable on Ubuntu Live CD have compatibility
problem with My notebook. Even without using screen reader option, The Linux kernel module crashes and The
notebook stop to respond. The crash occurs very soon after The first boot screen. Who would be so kind and
try to analyse The problem and try to modifi The linux kernel module? I can try to send some core developer
The error message, if there is any, but if The crash happens without error message, The solution of this
problem will be difficult.

I have disabled The IBM Touchpat mouse in BIOS and I also disabled The Trackpoint device in BIos. I done it
because I have problems during typing on my notebook keyboard. The touchpat is too sensitive and when i
slightly touch The touchpad, The cursor started to moving to various positions during writing in Word or
other edit areas.

I can give The kernel developer my notebook type, The version of BIOS. The problem do not occur on my
second, desktop computer.

I do not know, which person should I contact. It should be probably some Ubuntu kernel developer or
developers.

Thank You very much for Your answer.
