Hello Bryen,
it seems that you've activated numlock, so that the numpad can be used
to write figures.
Just press numlock and try it again.
Note: By default numlock should be turned off, and I don't know why it
is activated on your machine. If I remember well, you're working with
Suse, a system I don't know at all. So chekc your system's setting to
make sure that numlock is turned off.
