Hello,
although Orca doesn't speak the selected text while you select it,
there's a way to chekc out what you've selected: Press Numpad Enter to
hear the selected parts.
Two suggestions to make live with Evolution easier: If you haven't done
so, uncheck the preview mode and check the cursor mode; both you find in
the view menu.
When in the messages list, press enter on the message you want to read,
and use either the cursor to go through the text, or press Numpad Plus
to read out the whole mail.
