I can confirm Evolution's sluggeshness from the first day I use it. For
example writing mail is sometimes an impossition, when the letters you
type get written to the screen in seconds intervals, e.g. you can count
them while they appear.
Thunderbird is much faster, but still very unstable.
Solution:
apt-get install mutt
